Seeking a GIS Analyst with 3-5 years’ experience for a full time position in our Baltimore office. Work will include map design and production, data conversion, programming, and database design to support interdisciplinary team on transportation project development studies.

Qualifications:

 

 

  • Possess strong mapping and GIS software skills required.
  • Previous experience with SQL Server, MS Access, and ESRI GIS software such as ArcGIS, 3D/Spatial Analyst, or ArcServer is a plus.
  • Programming experience with ArcPy or ArcObjects for .Net.
  • Familiarity with MDE/MSHA design standards is also helpful.

Stream Restoration Design Specialist/Scientist

Baltimore, MD

 

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in stream restoration design, fluvial geomorphology, sediment transport, stream ecology and stream assessment. The position involves assisting and leading the design of moderate to small projects and serving as an essential team member for larger projects. This position will involve field and office work primarily in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Delaware and will entail physical and biological field surveys of streams, evaluation of existing conditions, impairment assessment and development of restoration solutions. Some travel in the Mid-Atlantic region likely.

 

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic analyses (GISHydro, TR-55, TR-20, HEC-RAS) as well as geomorphic assessment software.
  • Related coursework, an interest in field work, experience with stream assessments a plus.
  • Strong writing, communication and, most importantly, critical thinking skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required; master’s is preferred.
  • Experience working the Mid-Atlantic region (Pennsylvania, Virginia or Maryland) preferred.

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or related field (Master’s preferred) combined with education in design (architecture, urban design, or landscape architecture) and at least three years of planning experience.

Specific duties include inspecting construction of TMDL (stormwater management) and maintenance projects, material testing, and calculating quantities for construction projects. Work conditions vary and are performed in weather conditions and rough terrain; requirements for walking, standing, bending and lifting loads up to 80lbs and working in close proximity with traffic on Maryland highways.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education requirement - high school diploma or GED
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in the area of transportation construction inspection for Maryland DOT.
