2012 Honor Award by ACEC/MD for Baltimore Grand Prix Engineering

ACEC New Jersey

The American Council of Engineering Companies/Maryland (ACEC/MD) recently awarded McCormick Taylor, Inc. with a 2012 Honor Award for Innovative Engineering Excellence for our work on the Baltimore City Downtown Infrastructure Improvements (Baltimore Grand Prix). The annual Engineering Excellence Awards competition recognize engineering firms for projects that demonstrate a high degree of innovation, achievement, value, complexity, exceeding client needs, and future value to the engineering profession.

The McCormick Taylor Team was tasked by Baltimore City Department of Transportation with performing all survey, engineering and permitting requirements to host the inaugural Baltimore Grand Prix. Transforming city streets into a safe, viable racetrack was a complex engineering task. This project is especially noteworthy due to the unprecedented three month timeframe; in order to meet the September 2011 race date, all asphalt construction and concrete pavements had to be completed no later than July 2011.
