What are three things you can't live without?
My tribe, my dogs, and nature.
What book are you currently reading?
I'm finishing "Becoming" by Michelle Obama. I've been drawn to autobiographies lately.
What's something you'd like to learn?
I would like to dedicate more time to learning American Sign Language. As a child, I always wanted to learn ASL and be more involved with the deaf community. I also have a hearing impairment and find myself navigating to this language as a useful tool.
Tawnya is an environmental professional with over 20 years of experience in environmental compliance, environmental science, and environmental engineering. In her role as Senior Project Manager, Environmental Services at McCormick Taylor, Tawnya promotes our growing operational compliance experience to our existing and prospective clients and supports EPA initiatives for the protection of human health and the environment. This role includes inspections, auditing, plan development (spill prevention, emergency management, etc.), permitting services, regulatory reporting (hazardous chemical, regulated & unregulated waste, spills, NPDES, and other permits), and training services.
Tawnya provides regulatory compliance support to clients, including ongoing support and awareness for policy/regulation changes. Regulatory compliance supports environmental policy, law, and regulations at local, state, and federal levels. These services hold up programs such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, etc. This includes historical searches, due diligence assessments, a wide range of permitting (wastewater, surface water, waste characterization & handling, construction operations, etc.), monitoring services (air, water, soil), environmental impact assessments (human, animal, and environment), emergency planning and operations, and more.
Environmental regulation touches on all disciplines within McCormick Taylor. We're working to expand our services to include due diligence, permitting, monitoring, waste characterization, and handling so that they're easily obtainable within each of our groups. Typically, this work is performed by subcontractors, but opening up the conversation to cross disciplines will only help our firm strengthen and grow.
In addition, Tawnya is a big advocate for renewables and is excited to see the progression of this movement into society. McCormick Taylor's energy group has been pursuing support services for renewable energy.
While working from home, Tawnya has enjoyed having the flexibility to take a break and get outside with her son and dogs. She feels fortunate to have an area where she can grab a breath of fresh air, exercise, and remain focused. The time at home has helped her balance the work/home life, and she has become much healthier during this time.
In her free time, Tawnya enjoys landscaping and gardening vegetables and herbs. The outdoors is her place of Zen. If not in the garden, she can be found kayaking on the lake or hiking with her dogs.
