Lot E Project in Historic Ellicott City Earns ACEC/MD Honors

Parking Lot E.Completed projectOn February 18 at the American Council of Engineering Companies Maryland (ACEC/MD) membership meeting and banquet, the Ellicott City Lot E Staircase and Water Quality Project received an Honor Award in ACEC/MD’s 2016 Engineering Excellence Awards competition. In 2013, the Howard County Bureau of Environmental Services engaged McCormick Taylor to provide engineering, design services, and landscape architecture for improvements to Parking Lot E in Historic Ellicott City, Howard County. The project included structural and stormwater management analysis and design, development of design plans, and construction oversight in order to make the existing parking facility along Main Street in this historic community more walkable and functional, improve access to surrounding businesses, and provide water quality treatment to impervious surfaces.

Dana Knight Appointed to ACEC College of Fellows

Knight, DanaMcCormick Taylor Vice President Dana Knight was recently appointed as a Fellow of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC). Fellows of ACEC are individuals who have been principals of their firm for at least five years and have made notable contributions in consulting engineering, administrative leadership, or service to their profession. Recipient of Baltimore’s “Young Engineer of the Year” award in 1992, Dana has over 30 years of experience in the planning and design of small and large transportation projects. In addition to his role as a Fellow, Dana has also previously served as President, Director, and Chairman of the Awards and Legislative Committees for ACEC/MD.

McCormick Taylor is Among the Best Places to Work in NJ

BestPlacesLogo2016For the second consecutive year, McCormick Taylor was named one of the Best Places to Work in New Jersey. The survey and awards program honors the top places of employment that benefit the state’s economy, workforce, and businesses. The Best Places to Work in New Jersey program is comprised of 100 companies split into two groups: 70 small/medium-sized companies (15-249 employees) and 30 large-sized companies (more than 250 employees).

Organizations from across the state entered the two-part process that consisted of an employer questionnaire and employee engagement survey. The overall registration and survey was managed by Best Companies Group (BCG). BCG also analyzed the data provided and determined the final rankings. The Best Places to Work in New Jersey awards reception and ceremony will be held on Tuesday, April 19, from 5 PM – 8 PM at iPlay America’s Event Center in Freehold, NJ, during which each company’s ranking will be revealed.
