McCORMICK TAYLOR SHINES AT 2023 ACEC/PA DIAMOND AWARDS

Excellence in engineering was on display at the 2023 American Council of Engineering Companies of Pennsylvania (ACEC/PA) Diamond Awards! McCormick Taylor was honored to be recognized as the best in the State for three projects and thankful for the trust and assistance of our clients and partners.

Each year ACEC/PA celebrates the industry and recognizes engineering firms for “projects that demonstrate a high degree of achievement, value, and innovation” in 12 related categories and one Grand Conceptor award. The projects are judged by a panel of peers representing various backgrounds in the industry and rated on uniqueness and innovation; future value to the profession and public perception; social, economic and sustainable development considerations; complexity; and successful fulfillment of client/owner needs.

ACEC/PA selected McCormick Taylor for the following projects.

FRANKFORD-TRENTON-YORK ROUNDABOUT

Client: City of Philadelphia Department of Streets

Philadelphia, PA

Category J - Small Projects

The Frankford-Trenton-York Roundabout is among the first of its kind in the City of Philadelphia and others are in the design phase at a few different locations. This location was prioritized to advance into design and construction to reduce the roadway footprint and simplify the complexity of the former signalized intersection. McCormick Taylor completed the final design for the new roundabout and successfully demonstrated that a low-cost urban roundabout could be constructed within existing right-of-way, be more pedestrian friendly, and reduce speeds, emissions, and risk of severe and fatal crashes.
