LOUISA ST. STORMWATER POND RETROFIT RENDERINGS
COLUMBIA, SC
McCormick Taylor led the development of renderings to showcase the Louisa Street Stormwater Pond improvements proposed by the City of Columbia, South Carolina.

THE CHALLENGE
In the 1990s, a dry detention basin was replaced with a stormwater pond, which over time, became inaccessible and fell into disrepair. To demonstrate the potential improvement in local quality-of-life through the restoration of inflow to the pond, our team proposed the development of renderings.
HOW WE HELPED
McCormick Taylor's Visualization Team developed renderings to depict two pond configurations, one showing a dry marsh and another showing a wet marsh. Both renderings also featured an accessible shared-use path and boardwalk. Plan-view illustrations and 3D renderings were developed by incorporating 2D and 3D CAD files, supplemental 3D topography, and the proposed alignment of the shared-use path.
RESULTS
The renderings were successfully utilized to demonstrate to local residents, who were unaware of the existing stormwater pond, the differences in the proposed improvements and how the improvements would look when completed.
