McCormick Taylor is proud to celebrate the official ribbon cutting of the newly transformed Wissahickon Transit Center (WTC), a major milestone for Philadelphia’s transit network and the thousands of commuters who rely on this vital hub every day. In partnership with the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) and a dedicated team of regional stakeholders, we helped reimagine the 3-acre site to improve safety, efficiency, and multimodal connectivity for all users.
The Wissahickon Transit Center had long been over capacity and constrained by limited space, complex site conditions, and heavy multimodal activity. Addressing these demands required close coordination among SEPTA and regional partners.
McCormick Taylor led the roadway and site design for the new WTC, developing and evaluating multiple conceptual layouts to identify the most effective configuration. Our work included improved traffic signals, optimized bus circulation, enhanced bicycle and pedestrian access, roadway widening and grading, modern lighting, and preparation of key permits and construction plans. This collaborative, data-driven approach helped deliver a safer, more efficient, and more connected multimodal hub.
Today, the redesigned Wissahickon Transit Center stands as a model of coordinated, multimodal planning. The improved facility eases congestion, enhances safety, and strengthens connections to the region’s trail network while offering modern amenities and sustainable design features that support a more comfortable and reliable rider experience.
