Associate Project Manager, Structural Engineering

  • Where is the most interesting place you've ever been?

My wife and I went on our honeymoon to Malta and Barcelona. We knew nothing about Malta, but decided to take a chance and we are so happy we did. There were so many cool places to explore on the tiny island from beautiful beaches, to gated cities, and a fishing village. They also had the best Mediterranean food.

  • What are some of your hobbies?

Golf, cooking, softball, and formerly homebrewing.

  • What are three things you can’t live without?

My family, Kerri (wife) and Sam (son); seeing live music; and sports.

Bio

Tom Canataro, PE, CBSI is an Associate Project Manager of Structural Engineering with 15 years of experience working in McCormick Taylor’s Exton, PA office. Tom’s story at McCormick Taylor began in 2008 when he interned with the company while attending the University of Delaware. Over the years, Tom said he has met many great people and friends inside and outside of the office.

Tom’s role at McCormick Taylor involves designing bridge replacements and rehabilitations, conducting routine inspections of bridges, structural plan and calculation reviews, and evaluating structural damage and repairs. Tom enjoys the balance his work offers him - spending some time designing on a computer, while also having the ability to go to a job site or bridge inspection in person. The flexibility of being able to work in the office, at home, or out in the field has been an appealing aspect of his position.

Currently, Tom is enthusiastic about the opportunity to work on a bridge project along the Pennsylvania Turnpike. “In our Exton office we typically work on smaller local bridges, so I am excited to work on something of this magnitude. I already have learned so much from my colleagues working on the project and about 3D finite element analysis modeling software,” said Tom regarding his new project.
